(mom and i stick out just a bit)

same weekend, two weddings
the second one was complete with swans on the lake!

the happy mr. and mrs. granadillo!
.
.
.
i worked with cristina @ bynum plumbing
with my new job, i miss having her to talk to!
though it was fun to finally meet all the people i had heard so much about.

that night was my first cuban food experience.
i think i fell in love.
ha!
and how ideal that the very next day,
there was a Groupon for Papi's Cuban Grill !!
i was all over that.

the first fruits!!!
nothing beats home grown.

i have a new love for hydrangeas.
ours are beginning to bloom...

i have a crush on tom sturridge.
...wouldn't you?

daily doodle:

thoughts from my week:

1-  i believe in angels

2-  don't be selfish...we are often the answer to other people's prayers.

3-  living by myself is lonely

4-  at age 24, the possibilites are still  e n d l e s s...

5-  i miss kevin.

6-  be flexible. life, or even days, rarely go how you plan.

7-  some weeks, i only want to wear dresses. i find it refreshing.
after all, there is nothing wrong with feeling like a lady.
especially when you are one
:)

we went to the Atlanta Temple Open House
the kids saw the inside of a temple for the FIRST time.
the changes to the inside are gorgeous.
i
love
being
in
the
temple
.

fortunately there was no rain!
but...no sun either.

me . mamita . dacy

that was our very "good friday"

.
.

we dyed (and tie-dyed) easter eggs and had a hunt

dacy helping quin helping quin pick up the insides of an easter egg that
fell out of the tree on her head!

lil zia needed help with her hunt. i hid the eggs, so i knew where to look :)

emptying the candy out of the eggs afterwards

max found money in some of his eggs! (kids get excited about quarters)

they found a REAL robin's eggs that fell out of the pine trees

this is my lovely family.

other f o t o s...

she loves them skittles

breakfast time when she doesn't get the pink cup.

we saw the movie RiO!
adorable.
fun.

now i want a little pet birdie.

Easter was also ryan's 32nd birthday.
we ate tacos. his fav.
shrimp. fish. and beef.
DELISH!
and we ate some more.
i think i gained some this weekend.
who cares
little chocolate bunnies are worth it.

(i have been doing a lot of this lately)...

true discovery begins with introspection
.
introspection requires pondering
.
pondering leads to understanding
.
what we understand, we hope to remember
.
to be remembered, it must be written.

i'm writing a paper for my english class
on the negative effects of the media in today's society.

it's something i feel VERY strongly about.

remember when we had the snow/ice storm like a month or so ago?
days stuck at home
naturally, i turned on the tv to pass some time.
my options:
True Life Story: Britney Spears
or
a talk show with 12 year old girls dressed like prostitutes claiming to be sex addicts
AND PROUD OF IT!
the one girl declared that she wanted to be just like Snookie from Jersey Shore.

now i've never actually SEEN Jersey Shore myself
but i've heard enough about it
and i know Snookie's reputation

i mean, i know "SEX SELLS"
but honestly...at what cost?
look at what it's doing to society.

pathetic. we live in a pathetically dark world.
with hardly ANY moral standards anymore.

FACTS:
According to the A.C. Nielsen Co., the average American watches more than 4 hours of TV each day (or 28 hours/week, or 2 months of nonstop TV-watching per year). In a 65-year life, that person will have spent 9 years glued to the tube.

---> Number of TV sets in the average U.S. household: 2.24
--->Number of hours per day that TV is on in an average U.S. home:
6 hours, 47 minutes
Percentage of Americans that regularly watch television while eating dinner: 66%
Number of hours of TV watched annually by Americans: 250 billion
Value of that time assuming an average wage of S5/hour: S1.25 trillion

Number of minutes per week that parents spend in meaningful conversation with their children: 3.5   (sad)

Percentage of 4-6 year-olds who, when asked to choose between watching TV and spending time with their fathers, preferred television: 54%

Hours per year the average American youth spends in school: 900 hours
Hours per year the average American youth watches television: 1500 hours

BOO AMERICA!!!
FIND SOMETHING BETTER TO DO WITH YOUR TIME!

how my mind works...

after much contemplation, it has been decided:

everyone at some point in their life has been asked the question,
"if you could have any super power, what would it be?!"
common answers:
 - flying (...sure, that'd be cool)
- breath under water (....meh)
- shapeshift (...sweet, but you'd be nothing but a liar)
- read people's minds (...creep)
- go back in time (...you're not God, ok)

i think the most rad thing EVER....
would be
the power to never need sleep.
am i wrong?
think of the possibilities!!!!
and of how that would change your life and what you could accomplish.
there are no down sides to this.
never getting tired.
iLOVEit

FACT: by the time we're 75 years old, averaging 7 hours of sleep a day,
we will have wasted 22 years of our lives SLEEPING!!!!!

i've gone through my times of avoiding sleep,
without fail, i make myself sick
then i spend a couple days in bed making up for the sleep i tried to avoid
it's no use.
so i've grown fond of my naps and plenty of rest.
it'd be great if my brain and body functioned without any of that though.

the next topic on my mind...

when things stay the same for too long or just don't agree with my emotions
i get antsy and frustrated and can't handle it
so i seek ways to remedy the situation.

i'll start by analyzing my goals and progress to make myself feel better and accomplished.
with the new year, i established many goals.
one being budgeting better/saving...
yet i find myself to be a therapeutic shopper, so my bad day or frustration justifies a new cardigan (which i will totally wear all the time)
or
$100 worth of oil paints.
they were on sale though! (30% off @ Hobby Lobby. deal.)
ok, the cardigan i didn't NEED
but considering another goal i have is to use the dozen blank canvases stored
under my bed and in my closet,
$100 out of my savings is ok, ......right???

usually then, to clear my head, i'll go to Borders or Barnes n Noble for a couple hours
and peruse the books.
it works well for me
but i ended up leaving with another purchase,
BlueCanvas.
it's a really rad art magazine and the new issue was out, i couldn't help it.

to complete my streak of impulsive behavior
which happens about once a month, do the math...
i ended up @ Paul Mitchell hair salon and came out a redhead.

  change is good.
it's refreshing.
and for me, therapeutic.
even if it is my hair color.
pathetic, yes.
don't judge me.

my weekly reminder: don't feel sorry for yourself. no matter how bad your situation,
things could ALWAYS get worse.
i was watching Ever After, and that quote hit home to me.

youtellme:
is it better to be born without sight, or go blind later in life?
is it better to have your heart broken, or to never have loved?
is ignorance really bliss?

...your thoughts would be greatly appreciated...
